Wieringen II (2009) is an installation that depicts the alternate history of the existing former Island of Wieringen. Wieringen, in reality, was an island in the North of the Netherlands that became landlocked because of the Zuiderzee Works in the first half of the 20th century. The alternate history tells the story of an hydraulic engineer with doubt of conscience. He feels regretful for destroying the unique regional culture on the Island and therefore decides to rebuild the island in the middle of the IJsselmeer using materials and techniques that were utilised for building the Zuiderzee Works. He then plans to transport the remaining inhabitant of Wieringen to his newly build Wieringen 2.
